Hemophilia Treatment Centres

Canadian Hemophilia Treatment Centres (HTCs) have been helping patients and families to manage every aspect of living with hemophilia, from providing information about the latest medical developments to organizing support groups for parents and teens.

What is an HTC?

HTCs are part of a regionalized system of care with locations throughout Canada and the world. They are staffed by a Comprehensive Care Team of experts trained in hemophilia who help patients and families access a wide range of education and support services. Although services may vary by HTC, the following are some of the services typically offered:

  • Medical treatment
  • Education
  • Psychological and emotional counselling
  • Research studies and clinical trials
  • Support groups
  • Education on hemophilia for school teachers and day care staff
  • Home infusion instruction and support for parents and children
  • Genetic counselling
  • Safety network for travelling families
  • Summer camps for children with hemophilia

The Canadian Hemophilia Society offers a current listing of Canadian Hemophilia Treatment Centres on its website.
